What it does: Vivitrol works on the rewards system in the brain that alcohol attaches to. The effects of vivitrol are an overall decreased desire to drink, demonstrated by prolonged abstinence, reduction in drinking episodes, and an overall decrease in overall consumption.
Summary of Treatment: Patients come into our office once a month to receive a vivitrol injection.
