Procedure
Stellate Ganglion Block
A stellate ganglion block targets a collection of sympathetic nerves (the stellate ganglion) located in the neck. These nerves are part of the sympathetic nervous system and can contribute to pain conditions affecting the head, neck, upper chest, and arms.
This procedure is used to treat conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) of the upper extremities, certain types of headaches, and phantom limb pain. By blocking the stellate ganglion, the procedure can reduce pain, improve blood flow, and decrease swelling in the affected areas.
